Today’s Stoic
“Remember that you must behave in life as at a dinner party. Is anything brought round to you? Put out your hand and take your share with moderation. Does it pass by you? Do not stop it. Is it not yet come? Do not stretch your desire toward it, but wait till it comes.”
Epictetus · Enchiridion
What it means today

You would not lunge across a table for food you are not offered. Neither should you lunge across time and other people for what is not yours to take now. Take what is given; let the rest arrive.

Try this todayToday, treat one unmet desire as if you were calmly waiting for it to be served, not chasing it.
